Ace of Wands

For a project in my 2-D class (before I quit the university and changed back to an English major) I was asked to make a minimum of 23 cards for a final project. We could either make regular playing cards or tarot cards.

Given a fascination with the occult (and reading Tarot Cafe), you can probably guess what I picked...

This the backing for my cards, which were a vampire theme.

Drawn first with pencil then inked over with a micron pen. After that, I used watercolor pencils.

I only had three weeks to finish everything and turn them in (that included a box for them to fit inside...) so I didn't get as much time as I wanted and they're probably not as good as I could have made them with longer time and not doing them all by hand. I was sick for at least part of a week and lost a bunch of drawing time.

Also, used some traditional symbolism, and some stuff is purely artistic. These were more for an art class than to actually be functional cards. However, I do intend to finish the set one day as I found I really like drawing them.
